Property Remarks

Don't wait any longer to make your move! This is a great home, but the “icing” on the cake is the 32' x 36' shop with two 12' overhead doors, a mechanic's pit, full concrete approach (with basketball goal) and alley access. Now for “cake”- Stately 2 story home with over 2,500 sq ft of living space and period features: nostalgic front porch, original hardwood floors, tall ceilings and deep baseboards. The main floor boasts a formal living room, parlor/office, kitchen with floor to ceiling cabinetry, bath/laundry combination, formal dining room and a family room with wood burning stove. Upstairs you'll find more oak hardwood flooring throughout the hall and 3 bedrooms plus a vintage bath. The door at the end of the hall leads you up the stairs to the finished attic that has been used as the 4th and 5th bedroom areas and great storage. Wait- there's still a basement. This space can be updated to fit your lifestyle for a family or rec room (plumbing is already there for a wet bar), ¾ bath, plus great storage and mechanical rooms. Recent improvements include: new incoming water line, new exterior paint, newer roof, and water heater. Call today to see this SWEET older home in person!

Maxwell Wildlife Refuge

Known as Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, this unique area located six miles north of Canton possesses one of the finest herds of buffalo in the United States, along with elk and other wild game, birds and wildflowers.

The Maxwell Game Preserve which opened to the public in 1951 was established because of a provision in the will of the late Henry Irving Maxwell dictating that the bulk of his estate be used for the benefit of the public.  He instructed the handler of his property to buy not less than three nor more than six sections of land, suitably improve it and stock it with buffalo, antelope, deer, prairie chicken and quail.  Mr. Maxwell's will also stipulated that the proposed game preserve be under the control of the government; therefore, it is under the jurisdiction of the Fish and Game Commission of the State of Kansas.
